Tallinn Chamber Choir (TCC) was initiated by Uno Naissoo in 1962 as an experimental choir that performs and introduces new work of Estonian composers. The choir was mainly formed from professional musicians - composers, conductors, music teachers and students. Through years, there have been around 30 members in the TCC. The honorary conductor of Tallinn Chamber Choir is Professor Kuno Areng, who has conducted the choir from its establishing until 1992. The choir has been also conducted by Arvo Ratassepp, Ants Üleoja, Toomas Kapten and Andres Heinapuu. TCC was the first chamber choir formed in the Soviet Union.
In the present 2009-2010 season TCC is conducted by Darja Selivanova and Kaspar Mänd. Aivar Leštšinski was conductor during 1994 - 2002 with Margit Võsa, in the previous seasons with Veronika Portsmuth (2003/2004) and with Mihhail Gerts (2004-2005). During the 2002/2003 season TCC was conducted by Andres Heinapuu and Veronika Portsmuth. Darja joined TCC in autumn 2005 and Kaspar in autumn 2008.
The present Tallinn Chamber Choir consists of mostly amateur singers from various backgrounds - officials, marketing people, lecturers, youth workers, accountants, musicians, specialists, sales managers, students etc. Tallinn Chamber Choir performs diverse music - secular and sacred, contemporary and classical, Estonian and foreign composers' work. Also sing national songs and entertaining pieces of music. Very often TCC has performed choral music of Estonian composers as their first introduction and choir has been successful in several Estonian and international competitions. Choir unites young people who want to leave a mark in the Estonian choral music history under the name of Tallinn Chamber Choir. Welcome!
